We're down to almost a week before our 7th event. I'm still amazed at the number of people who have payed allready and I really do hope everyone can make it. There are about 7 spots still left, so if you want to be assured a spot at the party, get that money in ASAP.

Wow! Demand has far exceeded anything we expected for this party. Needless to say that we, once again, have pushed our limits and opened up a second room of LAN party goodness. That means we can now hold 120 attendees. This is a second chance for everyone who thought they might not make it in to the biggest, baddest F.R.A.G. event of 2000! Go sign up and get those payments in to make sure you don't get left out!

Big news here folks.
For starters, we will be changing the names of our gaming events. After our next event, even though our organization will still be known as Free Range Action Gaming, our actual parties will be known as "Gamers' Gauntlet". So what was to be F.R.A.G. 8 will now become Gamers' Gauntlet I. The event will still be brought to you by the same great people as always, so you needn't worry about that. But we want to try and stand out from the rest of the "Frag" parties that have been popping up all over. So I hope you're ready to brave the Gamers' Gauntlet.
With the new name will come a new look and a new logo, of course. With this, we're counting on you players to help out. We're holding a logo contest where we want players to submit their ideas on a new logo to represent the Gamers' Gauntlet events. This logo will adorn such wonderful things as the new web pages, badges, T-shirts, and probably more. The creator of the winning entry, chosen by a staff vote, will receive free entry to a Gamers' Gauntlet event, a free T-shirt (when we make them), as well as full credit and bragging rights. (Note that Free Range Action Gaming will retain ownership of the winning logo as a condition of the contest.) So start brainstorming... we'll soon be announcing the contest's deadline. (For more details, check out the contest page)
As if that news wasn't big enough, there's even more. Our party has become an official CPL qualifying event. Our Quake 3: Arena 1-on-1 competition will be a qualifier for the upcoming Babbage's CPL $100,000 tournament in Dallas on December 17th. The winner of our brutal 1-on-1 competition will be flown to Dallas (we pay for the plane ticket) and receive an auto-berth into the 128-player 1-on-1 CPL tourney in which the winner goes home with a big piece of that $100,000 total purse. Big money! Fabulous prizes!
And finally, we've finalized our schedule. We're packing a lot of tournament goodness into this upcoming party, as I'm sure you can tell. Check out the details page for exact times and tournaments. And of course we'll be running open public servers all weekend long. (For more information on tournaments, see the tournament page)
If you haven't registered, what are you waiting for? We're already at over 110 people, even though there are only 88 seats available at this event.
If you have, but you haven't paid, what's the hold up? Out of those 88 seats, 59 are already paid for and reserved. That leaves less than one-third of the spaces remaining, and with the news about CPL finally being made public, they're going to go fast.

Okay, we seem to have had a rash of bad email addresses lately for people who are registering. You need to be sure that you supply a valid email address when you sign up. Double check it and make sure it's correct. Why? Because not only do we send to you important payment information when you register, but we also use email to send out important news items as they happen. I doubt there are many players who check this news section every day, and being able to contact the players via email eliminates that necessity.
If you're worried that someone will get your email address off of our players page, don't. We've taken email addresses off of that listing, so you don't need to worry about unscrupulous spammers taking your address and adding it to their bloated list of victims. The only people who will see the email address you register are staff members and the only reason we'll use it is to send out the vital information that you need to play.
It's possible that in the future that we will start removing any registered players who fail to supply a valid email address. Something to keep in mind.
So far we have bad addresses for:
- chappy
- LavBoy
- Nuprin
- maskman

I just want to point out that we have reached the 50% mark. At this time, 44 people have pre-payed. That means that there are 44 spots left. If you want to be assured a seat at the upcoming F.R.A.G., you got to get that check in or pay online ASAP. Registration is filling up fast, so don't get left out!

It's amazing how quickly registration has been filling up. As I write this, we have about 85 or so people signed up. I want to remind everyone that the only way to be sure you have a seat is to pay in advance.
We're doing some tweaking of our schedule to try and make sure we can fit as much Whoop-ass-n' into one event as possible.

Yargh! Shiver me timbers.
Big ole thanks to
Stomped and
Captured.com for giving us mention on their pages. We're trying to spread the word, tell your friends, tell your relatives. The more people, the better.
Registration is slowly filling up. Just a reminder that the only way to guarantee a seat is to pay in advance. Not to mention you could save some cash.
If you have any questions, send me some e-mail or just post on the forum. And I prefer questions about the party. Ok? Stay tuned!

Ahhh, I love the smell of burning electronics in the morning!
In case anyone missed our mass e-mail last night about the upcoming event known at F.R.A.G. v7.0, here's the entire e-mail Quintin Stone sent out.
Today's announcement:
- Registration opens Fri Sep 29th!
- Online credit card payment
- New costs
- Planned tournaments
Your waiting has not been in vain. Tomorrow we plan to open registration
for our November 18-19 party in Burlington, NC. But we're doing a few
things a little differently this time around.
In a way, we've returned to our roots. We've done away with the waiting
list, because simply registering on our website won't reserve a seat
anymore. The only way to guarantee yourself a seat now is to pay, and
it's first-come, first-served. If there are still open slots come the day
of the party, the earliest unpaid players who show up and pay at the door
will get first crack at the available seats.
The really good news is that we've signed up with PayPal to perform online
credit card payments. Even if you don't have a PayPal account, the
process to get one is quick, easy, and painless. Simply register for F.R.A.G. as
normal and you'll be offered a link you can follow if you decide to do the
online credit card payment. Of course the choice of payment through check
is still available, as is the possibility of paying at the door. There
have been some prices changes though that you need to be aware of. Our
prepay cost has risen to $25, and payment at the door will cost $35.
Now I know you're dying to know what tournaments we're planning on
running. Well, get used to disappointment. Heh, just kidding. Our big
event will again be a Quake 3 Capture the Flag 4-on-4 game. But never
ones to rest on just one event, we'll also be running Quake 3 deathmatch
games, Unreal Tournament CTF and free-for-all matches, as well as a
(gasp!) Counter-Strike tourney.
So things are really shaping up for this next event. If what we've heard
is any indication, we may very well have a sold-out room before the party
even begins.
There you have it. If anyone has any questions, shoot me some e-mail.
